Read on to learn about Strongid for dogs, the correct dosage for dogs, side effects, safety precautions and more.

Strongid was first developed by Pfizer for use in horses, but has since gained popularity as an anti-parasite medication for use in dogs. Pyrantel Pamoate is used as the active ingredient (also used in Nemex) and causes the worms to experience total paralysis, at which point they may be excreted in stools. Strongid is only effective at treating a small number of parasites so it is important to speak to your vet about the type of infection your dog is suffering from.

Strongid dosage for dogs

Strongid is sold as a liquid suspension, usually at a concentration of 50 mg/ml. At this concentration you want to administer 0.05 to 0.1 ml for every pound your dog weighs. You should use a syringe to accurately measure the dosage and squirt the solution into your dog’s mouth.

Follow the instructions of your vet closely and do not use without professional approval.
